The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuhula throws a series of punches but LaMotta moves out of range.

and LaMotta counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kuhula thinking.

LaMotta tries to close the distance and clinch but Kuhula swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A little jabbing left from Kuhula on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
LaMotta throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Kuhula drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
LaMotta might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kuhula throwing strikes but LaMotta manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

LaMotta seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kuhula does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Kuhula is staying active underneath LaMotta, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Kuhula wants to get back to his feet.

Kuhula has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. LaMotta is working away from the top position though.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tonothan Kuhula's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
LaMotta lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Kuhula backwards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake LaMotta dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



LaMotta sends Kuhula crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! LaMotta is motioning to the referee to let Kuhula up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

LaMotta lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kuhula at a distance.

LaMotta cracks Kuhula with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Kuhula looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can LaMotta finish him?

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kuhula has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

LaMotta drops Kuhula onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Kuhula is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
Kuhula has had enough of the clinch but LaMotta keeps him there for the moment.
LaMotta digs a right hand into Kuhula's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Kuhula's gas tank.

After the fight, Jake LaMotta was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
