The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left and a right from Mason both land. Nice combination.
Edwards thows a leg kick but Mason checks it
and Mason counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

and Mason counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Mason tries to close the distance and clinch but Edwards swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mason misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Edwards looks to score with a jab to the body but Mason is just out of range.

The Fox wants to get back to his feet but Thigpen is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Thigpen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

and Stevenson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Tadakatsu getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

Tadakatsu lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

We've been told by Tadakatsu's head coaches at Tycoon Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Johnson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tadakatsu looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Tadakatsu is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Johnson is staying tight to Tadakatsu's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Johnson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tadakatsu is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

McCringe is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Silva has escaped the position, nice work there.

McCringe has hold of Silva's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Silva tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - McCringe cranks the arm and Silva screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Silva, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
