The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Enveri is defended easily by Carvalho.
Arthur Carvalho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Enveri postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Carvalho is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Enveri, into his guard.

Carvalho sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Enveri's guard.

Yo looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Jaqquard turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Jaqquard manages to end up in side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jaqquard remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The strikes coming from Jaqquard are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Yo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jaqquard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hiebknecht dives in looking to finish as Parker flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Hiebknecht's strikes! Hiebknecht is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Parker's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Parker was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
