Undercard bout

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Karate Kid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mats Söderlund (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kid comes to the cage accompanied by Kung Fu Fighting. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Karate Kid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mats Söderlund!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Phil Schofield and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Söderlund misses with an attempted mid kick.
Söderlund misses with a straight left.
Söderlund has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Kid misses with a wild body shot.
Kid looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kid.
Söderlund appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Jab, jab by Kid - just one landing.
Kid takes one to the chin there.
Kid misses with a straight left.
Kid lands with a thumping leg kick.
Kid throws a shot to the body.
Mats Söderlund seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kid tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Söderlund was well out of range. Poor timing from Kid.

Kid slips a jab from Söderlund.
Kid feints and then cracks Söderlund's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Söderlund down.
Söderlund lands with an uppercut that bounces Kid off the cage and back into range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Söderlund stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kid.
Söderlund throws a body kick that misses.
Kid connects with a solid leg kick.
Kid throws a hook to the side of Söderlund's head but Söderlund sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Kid lands a nice looking body shot.
Kid chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Kid fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Söderlund.
Kid throws a nice looking combination but Söderlund bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Söderlund lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kid has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kid and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Söderlund throws a shot from downtown. Kid moves away and avoids it.
Söderlund throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Kid scores with a hook to the body. Söderlund takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Söderlund uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kid.

Söderlund bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kid's head.

A punch lands to the side of Kid 's head but he takes it in his stride.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Söderlund pounces like a tiger and cracks Kid with a vicious hook! Kid is down but not out! Söderlund follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Our winner, Mats Söderlund, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.

Mark connects with an inside leg kick.
Krapala tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mark swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Krapala lands a nice looking body kick.
Tuma Krapala seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Krapala shoots in but no luck this time.
Mark tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Mark lands a nice leg kick that just misses Krapala's sensitive parts.

That was a close round but I would say that Tuma Krapala will probably get the nod.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Krapala changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mark tries to avoid it but Krapala manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mark to the ground. Mark escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Mark displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Krapala.
Mark throws a leg kick which misses Krapala's front leg but catches the back leg as Krapala tries to avoid it.

Mark shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mark was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well Mark has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
