Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex Doumbos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sum Yung Gai!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Ben Hemmingworth and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Doumbos shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Doumbos showed some decent athleticism there.
Gai blocking the ground and pound attempt from Doumbos.

Doumbos is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gai is just riding it out for now. Doumbos eventually gives up the hold.
Doumbos will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Gai checks a leg kick.

Gai steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Doumbos. That one must have hurt.
Doumbos cracks Gai with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Gai lands a left and a right that send Doumbos crashing to the mat, dazed. Gai thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Gai closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gai lands in his opponent's guard.

Gai escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Doumbos gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Doumbos thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gai's head.
Doumbos looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gai with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Gai wants to control but Doumbos is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Doumbos throws a strike but Gai avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Doumbos works over Gai with some ground and pound from guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Alex Doumbos will probably get the nod.
