We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Scott has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Crowe dances in with a quick combination. Scott is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Crowe snaps Scott's head back. Scott stumbles backwards against the cage. Crowe steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Scott's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Scott just didn't come prepared.

It looks like JayDee Penn has been cut.
Pavil throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Penn stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Pavil ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Penn shoots in for a double leg but Pavil sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Pavil stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Penn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pavil sprawls well. Pavil wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Penn gets slowly back to his feet.

Pavil cracks Penn with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Pavil has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Penn to stand back up!

Marcos Pavil seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Penn closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Pavil's guard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyyp goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Tyyp jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Egeland is rocked!
Tyyp throws a head kick that misses.
Egeland is still on wobbly legs! Can Tyyp finish him?
Tyyp swinging wildly here.
Tyyp throws a right and a left that both miss.
Tyyp tries a head kick but it misses.
Tyyp throws a hook to the side of Egeland's head but Egeland sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Egeland seems to have recovered his senses.
Tyyp will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Egeland has closed the distance and engaged Tyyp in a clinch.

Egeland is looking for a triangle but Tyyp pushes his legs off easily.

Tyyp is looking to regain half guard here but Egeland keeps moving and retains side control.
Egeland looks up at the clock and then as Tyyp takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Egeland smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Tyyp knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Egeland on the ground.

Egeland has hold of Tyyp's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Tyyp seems comfortable defending it but Egeland has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Tyyp is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Tyyp is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Egeland couldn't care less - he's delighted!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Vieira darts in looking for a takedown but Down gets double underhooks and turns Vieira into the cage.
Down is trying to drag Vieira to the mat but Vieira just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Vieira is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Down has picked Vieira up - he's going for a ride! Down dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Vieira has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Down is working away from the top position though.

Down is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Vieira doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Down.
Down is trying to control the action in half guard but Vieira is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Down is pressing down on Vieira's thigh, looking to free his foot. Vieira is holding on for now.

Down is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Vieira is looking for a sweep. Down is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Down trying to pass the guard but Vieira defending well.

Down is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Vieira to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
Vieira keeping moving, preventing Down from controlling successfully.
Vieira manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Vieira looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Down tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Down sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Down looking for submissions off his back.
Vieira wants to lay and pray for a moment but Down keeps working.

Down tries to roll over but Vieira keeps him under control.
Vieira seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Down does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Down is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Vieira pulls his head out easily.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Vieira is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Down gets back to full guard.

Down throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Vieira wants to control from the top but Down keeps moving.
Vieira is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Down is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Vieira avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Vieira trying to control but Down is working from the bottom.

Vieira is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Down wants to sweep here but Vieira controlling him for the moment.
Vieira has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Down had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Vieira defends it easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Vieira trying to control but Down is working from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Vieira drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Vieira jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Down lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Vieira!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

You Down dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Vieira closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Down's guard.
Down wants to stand and escape but Vieira is having none of it.
Vieira trying to control the position from guard on top but Down is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Down is looking to cinch up a triangle. Vieira throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Down's body to avoid the submission. Down has instead reached around Vieira's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Down arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
