Tyson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hope backs up against the cage.
Hope throws a hook to the side of Tyson's head but Tyson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Tyson throws a low kick but Hope avoids it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hope steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Tyson. That one must have hurt.
A right-left combo lands from Tyson.
Hope throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hope enables Tyson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hope manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Tyson is looking to work some ground and pound but Hope has wrist control.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Molton Hope was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Hope scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Sagan Tyson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hope gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Hope lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sagan Tyson.
Well Tyson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pawel Nastula (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Bzdunek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bzdunek has chosen Kilka ostatnich krokow as his entrance music. John Bzdunek told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Bzdunek!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Felipe Paraventi and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bzdunek cracks Nastula with an open hand slap.
Nastula closes the distance and clinches up with Bzdunek, looking for a takedown. Nastula pushes Bzdunek against the cage but Bzdunek circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nastula goes for a double leg but Bzdunek avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bzdunek continues to drive forward.
Nastula jumps guard but Bzdunek turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pawel Nastula. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bzdunek escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nastula gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bzdunek counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Nastula tries for a takedown but Bzdunek circles away easily
and Bzdunek connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Nastula could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Nastula gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Nastula tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Bzdunek is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Nastula buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Nastula!! Nastula is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Bzdunek throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Bzdunek!
A very excited looking John Bzdunek rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
