The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frances throws a poor cross that misses

and Nister holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Nister's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Nister rushes Frances and presses him up against the cage.
Nister tries a knee to the head but Frances blocks it.
Frances should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Nister turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Nister manages to end up in side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Nister in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Nister will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Frances is trying to buck Nister off.

Nister tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nister has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Frances is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Nister asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Nister in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

It looks like Thomas Frances has been cut.
Frances pushes Nister away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Nister gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Nister tries to advance to mount but Frances denies him.

Nister working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nister is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Frances has escaped the position, nice work there.

Frances is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Nister has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Frances really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nister. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Colan tests Pax's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Pax misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Pax throws a sloppy head kick and Colan moves out of range easily.
Colan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pax as he avoids it easily.

and Colan counters with a nice low kick that buckles Pax's knee momentarily.

Pax gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Colan points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Pax wakes up just in time to hear Colan thank his coaches in the post fight interview.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Turgeon slips a straight right by Holt.
Holt uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Turgeon.

Holt smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Turgeon drops his hands momentarily and Holt takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Holt is looking to break free of the clinch but Turgeon has double underhooks.

Turgeon is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Holt pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Holt is trying to force a seperation but Turgeon has the dominant position.
Turgeon is trying to pull guard but Holt turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Turgeon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Holt fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Turgeon, pushing him back against the cage.

The referee is keeping an eye on Turgeon - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Holt wants to get back to striking at distance but Turgeon won't allow it.

Turgeon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Holt slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Holt scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Turgeon takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Holt looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Turgeon misses with a head kick.
Turgeon blocks a leg kick.
Holt blocks the body kick.
Turgeon tries a head kick but it misses.
Turgeon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Holt swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A slapping leg kick lands for Turgeon.
Turgeon tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Holt is able to avoid easily.
Turgeon takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Turgeon on the wrong end of a nice hook.
A head kick misses from Holt.

Turgeon feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Holt's calf.
Turgeon fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Holt.
Holt throws a wild body kick that Turgeon sees coming a mile off.
Turgeon scoring well with a low kick there.
Holt's corner calls for a 1-2. Holt obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Holt wants to slow Turgeon down by chopping away at his legs.
Turgeon moves out of range of the body kick from Holt.
Turgeon takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Holt chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Turgeon can pounce on him.
A thudding body kick lands there by Turgeon!
Turgeon throws a push kick but Holt slaps the foot to one side.
Turgeon lands a head kick!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A combination from Holt does no damage.
Turgeon lets loose with a powerful body kick. Holt will feel that in the morning.
Holt misses the shot to the body.
Turgeon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Turgeon moves forwards but Holt connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Holt bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Holt trying to control the position but Turgeon is working away.
Sloppy strikes there by Holt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Holt lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Turgeon down.

A punch combination from Holt misses.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Holt scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Turgeon doesn't seem bothered though.
Holt is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Holt connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Turgeon momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raymond Holt dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Holt blocks a leg kick.
Holt cracks Turgeon with an open hand slap.
Holt throws a series of punches but Turgeon moves out of range.
Holt has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Turgeon.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Holt lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Turgeon has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Turgeon and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Holt gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Holt lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
