With a record of 26 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chevy Nguyen!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nguyen throws the left hand but Bate avoids the punch easily.

Nguyen forces Bate back against the cage and clinches.
Nguyen fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Bate.
Nguyen wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Bate creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Nguyen has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Nguyen there as he acknowledges the shot.

Bate lands a nice hook to Nguyen's body. Nguyen takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
A punch lands to the side of Nguyen 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Chevy Nguyen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bate needs to keep his hands up - Nguyen had a free shot at his head there.
Nice defenses there by Nguyen.

Bate wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nguyen motions for Bate to come forward. Nguyen throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Bate fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Nguyen to the ground. Bate is now in Nguyen's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Bate trying to control the position from guard on top but Nguyen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That was a close round but I would say that Tyrone Bate will probably get the nod.

We've been hearing that Bate has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Nguyen throws a strike but Bate rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Bate with a flurry of punches that miss.
Nguyen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bate's guard.
Bate can't keep his opponent in guard - Nguyen advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
My spies in NexGen Fight Team inform me that Nguyen has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Nguyen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bate manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Nguyen lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Bate has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Bate and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

I would just about give that final round to Chevy Nguyen.

A very excited looking Tyrone Bate rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
The defeated Chevy Nguyen had this to say: 'More fighting less training...'.

Goins shoots in and bounces Sakuraba off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Goins has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Sakuraba had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Goins defends it easily.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Goins's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Goins with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Goins stands up over Sakuraba, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Goins drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Goins jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Goins is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Brown House that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Sakuraba is looking to cinch up a triangle. Goins throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Sakuraba's body to avoid the submission. Sakuraba has instead reached around Goins's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Sakuraba arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Kazushi Sakuraba!
After winning the bout, Kazushi Sakuraba thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.

Gein closes this distance looking for a takedown but Wilkins circles away.

We've been informed that Kim has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Mikey Kim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
