The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McConnel throws a right and a left that both miss.
McConnel lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Bishop has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bishop there as he acknowledges the shot.
Bishop tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McConnel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Bishop tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but McConnel defends well and Bishop ends up having to push McConnel into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

McConnel has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

McConnel might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McConnel cracks Bishop with a hook to the temple - Bishop is on wobbly legs here! McConnel swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Bishop falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! McConnel wins by TKO!
