The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wupp goes for a double leg but Ruane avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ruane continues to drive forward.
Wupp tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ruane fails to pull guard.

Ruane breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Wupp manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ruane on his heels. He'll look to pass Ruane's guard now, I'm sure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close second round but I would say that Beau Ruane will probably get the nod.

Buhler plants his feet and throws a 3 punch combo. Miss, miss, boom! The third punch, a big right hook, connects right on the temple and drops Nogueira to the mat, unconscious! This fight is all over! Nogueira just couldn't keep out of the way of the whole flurry of punches!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Penncil.
Penncil slips a straight right by Jong Illin.
Penncil is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Penncil manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jong Illin on his heels. He'll look to pass Jong Illin's guard now, I'm sure.

Jong Illin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Penncil is working away from the top position though.

Penncil is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Penncil is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Jong Illin is wriggling around trying to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Penncil has hold of Jong Illin's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jong Illin manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Penncil has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Penncil can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jong Illin is looking to escape.
Jong Illin is looking to improve his position but Penncil isn't that keen on the idea.

Jong Illin stops Penncil from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Penncil jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Jong Illin is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Jong Illin and Penncil has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Jong Illin is looking to regain half guard here but Penncil keeps moving and retains side control.

Penncil has hold of Jong Illin's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Jong Illin seems comfortable defending it but Penncil has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Jong Illin is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Jong Illin is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Penncil couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Kush changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Patel looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Kush scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Patel is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Kush can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Briggs leaves Shaw with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Briggs enables Shaw to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Briggs manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Shaw is stalling in the full guard.

My spies in Elite Training Facility inform me that Shaw has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
