The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Johnson as Scott shoots in.
Johnson is looking to clinch.

Scott closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Johnson did well to prevent Scott getting side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Scott uses his free foot to push down on Johnson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tim tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Diaz paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Tim moves out of range of the leg kick from Diaz.
Diaz misses with a lunging right hand
and Tim counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Tim closes the distance and pushes Diaz back into the cage.

Diaz wants to break the clinch but can't.
Tim misses with a punch on the inside.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Tim.

A head punch on the inside from Diaz fails to land.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Tim has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Tim swings wildly with an uppercut but Diaz uses good head movement to avoid it.
Tim throws a punch but it's blocked by Diaz.
Diaz is trying to break the clinch but Tim has him pressed against the cage.
Diaz lands a left hand.
Tim lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Diaz backwards.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Diaz takes a shot to the head.

Diaz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Tim is looking to clinch but Diaz is avoiding it.
We've been told by Diaz's head coaches at Blitzkrieg Fighting Systems: Ground that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

and Tim counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Diaz throws a right hand that misses
and Tim counters with a straight right hand.
Diaz throws a lazy uppercut
and Tim counters with a head kick.
Diaz blocks a head kick by Tim.
Diaz rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Tim counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Tim tries to close the distance and clinch up but Diaz swats him away and circles back towards the center.

enabling Tim to counter with a crisp jab.
Diaz throws a looping overhand right but Tim ducks down to avoid it.

Tim lands a big head kick that sends Diaz tumbling to the mat! Tim takes a step backwards and waves Diaz back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Diaz is rocked!
Tim plants his feet and throws a brutal three punch combo that sends Diaz swiftly into unconsciousness! Right, left, right! Boom, boom, boom! Diaz face plants, battered and bloodied! He might never be the same again after that finish!
