McKenzie shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kenshiro's guard.
Kenshiro utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
McKenzie throwing strikes but missing.

Kenshiro is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but McKenzie frees his head nicely. Oh but Kenshiro has switched to an armbar! McKenzie is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Hangman looks to land a combination but Nichols avoids it well.
Hangman connects with a right hand. Nichols shakes it off.
Nichols looks to land a left hand but Hangman moved out of range nicely.
Nichols throws a big shot that misses.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Nichols seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hangman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Nichols is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hangman is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Nichols wants to pass to mount but Hangman is defending the position.

Hangman is still in real trouble! Can Nichols finish him?
Hangman lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Nichols!

Let's hope that Hangman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Trent Hangman has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hangman slips under a jab from Nichols.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Nichols dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Nichols throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Hangman counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Nichols's guard now.

Hangman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nichols has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hangman has managed to get both his arms back between Nichols's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hangman not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Nichols here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Nichols working a defensive guard but Hangman manages to pass into side control anyway.

Nichols takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Nichols trying to control but Hangman flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

Nichols is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Trent Hangman has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nichols is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Hangman is pulling down on Nichols's head. It's preventing any offense from Nichols, at least for the moment.
Hangman wants to sweep here but Nichols controlling him for the moment.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Hangman had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nichols defends it easily.
