The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuugo throws a head kick that half lands.
A head kick misses from Kuugo.
Frotch has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Cozad The Island in the buildup to the fight.
Frotch blocks a head kick by Kuugo.
Kuugo throws a sloppy head kick and Frotch moves out of range easily.
Frotch connects with an inside leg kick.
Frotch avoids the head kick by Kuugo.
Kuugo tries a low kick but Frotch avoids it.

Frotch clinches with his opponent.
Kuugo dodges an elbow strike from Frotch.
Frotch misses with an elbow strike.
Kuugo can't break the clinch.
Frotch creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
With the fighters up against the cage, Frotch throws an elbow but misses.
Frotch throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Kuugo is trying to force a seperation but Frotch has the dominant position.
Frotch lands an elbow inside that Kuugo shrugs off.

It looks like Ginjou Kuugo has been cut.

Frotch has Kuugo pressed against the cage, preventing Kuugo from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Frotch looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Kuugo takes an elbow to the forehead.

The cut above Ginjou Kuugo's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Kuugo is looking to control Frotch's arms but Frotch gets an underhook and turns him. Now Kuugo has his back to the cage.

Ginjou Kuugo's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Ginjou Kuugo's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Rico.
Carlo looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Rico closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Rico escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Carlo keeps the fight on the outside.
Carlo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rico sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Rico shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Carlo's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Rico might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Carlo wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Rico is now in half guard.
Rico thows a huge punch but Carlo dodges it nicely.

Rico drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rico jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Rico slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Rico knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carlo on the ground.
Rico has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Johny Rico just wasn't active enough.
Carlo slaps away a takedown attempt from Rico, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Carlo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Rico works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Rico tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Carlo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Rico throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Carlo felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Rico decides to return to a standing position.

Rico has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Carlo is proving hard to escape from.
Rico sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Carlo's guard.

Rico is looking to take a break and control but Carlo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Rico is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Carlo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Carlo's back!

Rico is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Carlo knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Carlo for a finish.

Rico is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Carlo has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

King shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Noxus napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Noxus tries to bench press King off him but King keeps the position.
An elbow from King crashes against the mat.
King misses with the ground and pound.
King misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Noxus can do anything to dispel that myth.
Noxus gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

King is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Noxus is just riding it out for now. King eventually gives up the hold.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Noxus is working King over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
King has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ghost lands a left and a right that send Makeshian crashing to the mat, dazed. Ghost thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Dave Makeshian has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ghost lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Makeshian is looking to close the distance but Ghost sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Makeshian crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Makeshian is OK because that was naaaaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Rusty Ghost!
