These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rogers closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rogers lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rogers in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Rogers content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Rogers working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Dempsey is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The referee is taking a good look at Dempsey as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Rogers!

Rogers throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Dempsey!
Will Rogers go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Rogers jumps to his feet and celebrates the important win with his cornermen!

Tyson walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Tyson dives in and grabs Dont's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dont pushes down on Tyson's head and hops out.

Dont darts in and clinches Tyson up against the cage.
Tyson throws a punch but it's blocked by Dont.
Tyson takes an elbow to the temple.
Tyson tries to pull guard but Dont won't allow it.

Dont breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dont dodges the punch combination from Tyson.

Tyson gets tackled into the cage by Dont. Dont maintains the clinch.
Tyson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Dont pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Tyson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dont lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
The referee calls for Dont to work.

A looping hook to the body misses from Abbott. Bustinchapsup does a little dance to reset his feet.
Abbott fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Bustinchapsup has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Bustinchapsup on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Abbott. Abbott obviously looking to wear him down.
Bustinchapsup doesn't manage to clinch there - Abbott circles away.
Abbott lands with a shot to the body.
Abbott swings for the body but Bustinchapsup moves out of range.
Abbott lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Bustinchapsup has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cain Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raimo Rento (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velasquez kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Kryptonite. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cain Velasquez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Raimo Rento!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Darius Henderson and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rento takes a swing at Velasquez's ribcage but misses.
Rento throws a leg kick which misses Velasquez's front leg but catches the back leg as Velasquez tries to avoid it.
A head kick misses from Rento.
Velasquez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rento.
Rento just misses with a punch to the body.
Velasquez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rento as he jumps to the side.
Velasquez shoots in and drives through. Rento sprawls well.
Rento connects with a right hand. Velasquez shakes it off.
Velasquez takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rento misses with a wild combination.
Rento buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Velasquez takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Velasquez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
letting Rento counter with a right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cain Velasquez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Velasquez doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Rento counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Velasquez is lucky that one didn't land flush.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rento keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Rento is looking to slow Velasquez down with leg kicks.
A combination from Rento does no damage.
Velasquez takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Rento stuffs the takedown attempt from Velasquez. Velasquez gets slowly back to his feet.
Raimo Rento seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rento stuns Velasquez with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Velasquez is breathing heavily.

Rento lands a big shot that drops Velasquez! Can he finish him?

It looks like Cain Velasquez has been cut.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Velasquez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rento doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rento manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Velasquez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rento defends it easily.
Rento looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Velasquez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rento defends well.

Rento wants to control from the top but Velasquez keeps moving.
Rento is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Velasquez controls Rento momentarily but Rento frees himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Raimo Rento.
Rento connects with a body shot.
Rento throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Velasquez sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A clash of legs there as Velasquez blocks the low kick.
Rento scoring well with a low kick there.
A solid leg kick lands there for Rento.
Rento throws a nice inside leg kick.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Rento, right into the meat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

A head kick lands from Rento that sends Velasquez to the canvas. Velasquez tries to scramble back to his feet but Rento brings him back down into side control.
Rento trying to control the action but Velasquez is working from the bottom.
Velasquez tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raimo Rento dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Cain Velasquez's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Velasquez takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Rento misses with the combination.
Rento with a nice cross.
Velasquez throws a body punch but Rento moves out of range.
Rento feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Velasquezs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Rento.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rento thuds his right hand into Velasquez's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Rento scores with a jab. Velasquez acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Rento throws a good cross that connects.
Rento moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Velasquez slips under a jab from Rento.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A swing and a miss from Rento.
Rento scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Velasquez doesn't seem bothered though.
A punch lands to the side of Velasquez 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Raimo Rento seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Rento moves in close and cracks Velasquez with a massive right hand! Velasquez, frozen momentarily in time, tumbles to the canvas, already out cold! A brutal knockout by Rento!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Raimo Rento!
Raimo Rento is the new heavyweight champion!
During a confident post fight interview, Raimo Rento thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
