The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mitsurugi connects with an inside leg kick.
Mitsurugi fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Mitsurugi.
Mitsurugi thows a body shot but no joy.
Barathean tries for a takedown but Mitsurugi sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mitsurugi lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Barathean takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Whack! Mitsurugi lands a heavy head kick that drops Barathean. The ref tackles Mitsurugi to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Barathean was done.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nakamara throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Watanabe was covering up waiting for the punch and Nakamara finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Nakamara controls from within his opponent's guard.
Nakamara seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Watanabe for as long as he can get away with.

Nakamara drops back, looking for a kneebar! Watanabe looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Watanabe looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Watanabe!

Watanabe is trying to get an arm triangle but Nakamara is defending well.

Nakamara closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nakamara lands in his opponent's guard.

Nakamara thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nakamara feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kanchai Suya decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
