Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Gites (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Amun Ra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Gites might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Eminem - Above The Law . I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Amun Ra was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gites misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gites with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Gites throws a right and a left that Ra avoids nicely.
Gites throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ra prevents Gites from breaking the clinch.

Ra breaks the clinch.
Gites fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ra avoids it really well and circles away.
John Gites seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A big right from Ra misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from Gites. Ra does a little dance to reset his feet.
No joy there for Ra, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gites tries for a takedown but Ra circles away easily
and Ra counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Gites feints and as Ra raises his hands in defense, Gites changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gites accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ra is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Ra is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ra wants to improve his position but Gites is controlling well.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ra lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Ra wants to free his trapped foot but Gites is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gites moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ra slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Ra postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Gites has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ra can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John Gites will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Gites shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ra's guard.
Ra pulls Gites in close to prevent any damage.

Gites has gone for a leg lock! Ra slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gites's guard.

Gites has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ra seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Gites takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Ra's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boxlund shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Montoya eats them both and turns towards Boxlund to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Montoya looks to land a left hand but Boxlund moved out of range nicely.
Boxlund tries to move into range but Montoya moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Montoya decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Montoya seems to be looking for submissions.
Montoya has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Boxlund has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Montoya to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Boxlund is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Montoya pulls down on the head and he's put Boxlund to sleep! This one is all over!
