Alaga throws a right hand that Powarenko ducks under and follows up with a left that Powarenko also avoids with ease.
Alaga throws a series of punches but Powarenko moves out of range.
Alaga misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Alaga scores with a three punch combo!
Powarenko slips a jab and a cross from Alaga.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Powarenko takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

and Powarenko counters with a head kick.

A big head kick from Alaga and Powarenko is sent sprawling to the canvas!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Powarenko looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Alaga is defending well. Powarenko quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Alaga has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Powarenko celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simpson staying out of range there.
Simpson bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ahlo's head.
Ahlo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Simpson as he avoids it easily.
Ahlo attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Simpson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ahlo.
A big right from Ahlo misses.
Ahlo takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Ahlo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Simpson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ahlo misses with a hook.
Ahlo throws a series of punches but Simpson avoids them all with ease.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Simpson has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Simpson on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Ahlo. Ahlo obviously looking to wear him down.
Ahlo throws a jab when Simpson was well out of range.
Ahlo lands a head shot.

It looks like Sam Simpson has been cut.
Ahlo looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ahlo wants to clinch up but Simpson keeps it at a distance.
Ahlo scores with a nice head shot.

Ahlo drops Simpson with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Simpson looks back up at him and smiles so Ahlo waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Ahlo shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Simpson takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Ahlo sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Simpson bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!

A very excited looking Ville Ahlo rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.

Olivieira shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Karpecny but Karpecny pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Karpecny shoots in and bounces Olivieira off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Olivieira wants to get back to his feet but Karpecny is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Karpecny wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Olivieira's closed guard. He's half up but Olivieira has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Olivieira pivots and extends the arm, Karpecny falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Olivieira! Well done that man!

Melcher stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Luiz .

Melcher really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Luiz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Melcher. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Luiz fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Melcher has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Melcher has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Melcher there as he acknowledges the shot.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Luiz .

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Melcher circles away from the clinch attempt.
Melcher tries to score a power double leg takedown but Luiz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Melcher somewhat.

and Stoeckel counters with a three punch combo that has Monty Python backing up. Monty Python nods at Stoeckel to acknowledge the strikes.
Stoeckel moves out of range of the strikes.

Stoeckel closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Stoeckel lands in his opponent's guard.
Monty Python wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Monty Python bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stoeckel's guard.

Still in half guard, Monty Python seems content to control.
Monty Python has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Monty Python has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Monty Python's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Stoeckel shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Monty Python's guard.

Oh but Monty Python is tightening it up a little... Stoeckel has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Stoeckel reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Stoeckel taps out! Nice BJJ there by Monty Python!

Chokem will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Howard up against the cage.

Howard drops down looking for an ankle pick but Chokem pulls his leg out and moves away.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Quentyn Martell.
