The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A slapping body kick lands there for Castellanos.
Castellanos walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Machado checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Machado loads up on a big right hand but Castellanos slips the punch.
Castellanos lands a nice leg kick that just misses Machado's sensitive parts.

Machado drops Castellanos with a left and a right! Oh, Castellanos is hurt - Machado dives into side control looking to finish!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Machado throws an elbow but Castellanos slips to the side and avoids it well.
Castellanos is not content to let Machado control the position.

Machado is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Castellanos knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Machado is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Machado sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Castellanos's guard.

Castellanos takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Machado bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Castellanos's head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Castellanos ducks straight into an uppercut from Machado and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Castellanos manages to regain guard straight away.

Machado loads up on a big left hand. Castellanos felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Machado looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Castellanos can't hide his disappointment, as Machado celebrates the victory.

Mir tries to bum rush Yamada with a series of wild strikes but Yamada uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Yamada tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mir paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Yamada lands a left and a right that send Mir crashing to the mat, dazed. Yamada thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Mir is rocked!

It looks like Frankestein Mir has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mir shoots for a takedown but Yamada saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Yamada slips a straight right by Mir.

Mir will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
You can see the frustration on Yamada's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Yamada seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mir does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Yamada tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mir manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

That was a close round but I would say that Tadamasa Yamada will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mir has gone for a leg lock! Yamada slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mir's guard.
Mir is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yamada is in trouble now - Mir has advanced to mount!

Mir lands a couple of good shots and Yamada has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Mir connects with a big shot to the side of Yamada's head.
Oh Yamada is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Well, with Mir on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Yamada is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Frankestein Mir took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
