The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Surma rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gatti moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Surma throws a left and a right that both miss
and Gatti counters with a three punch combo that has Surma backing up. Surma nods at Gatti to acknowledge the strikes.

We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Caine changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nelson tries to avoid it but Caine manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nelson to the ground. Nelson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Caine shoots for a takedown but Nelson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Caine looks for a takedown but Nelson sprawls well.
Skyler Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Benny Caine.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Father scores with a sloppy right hand. Wer should have avoided that one.
Wer throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Father on the side of the head.
Wer delivers a nice body kick.
Father looks to land a left hand but Wer moved out of range nicely.
Wer lands a right hook to the body.

Father feints and as Wer raises his hands in defense, Father changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Wer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Father wants to control from the top but Wer keeps moving.
Father with a flurry of punches that miss.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Father works a leg free and moves into half guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Father's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Wer trying to control from the bottom.
Wer tries to get to full guard but Father has control of the leg.
Wer felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Father tries to pass to full mount but Wer defends it.

Wer is trying to control but can't.
Wer is refusing to be controlled, as Father sits in half guard.
Wer has hold of Father's hands but Father slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wer avoids the body shot from Father.
Wer tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Father paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Wer tries a head kick but it misses.
Wer pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Flo Wer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wer feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Father's calf.
Wer feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Fathers jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Wer throws a hook but Father avoids it easily.
A decent looking cross lands there for Father.
Wer connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Wer throws a looping overhand right but Father ducks down to avoid it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Father looks to score with a jab to the body but Wer is just out of range.
Wer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Wer scores with a head kick.
Father bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Wer's head backwards.
Father changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Wer misses with a kick to the body.
A head kick misses from Wer.
Wer jabs Father right on the nose. Father blinks but takes it well.
Father keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Father lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wer staying out of range there.
Wer misses with a body shot.
Wer lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Father ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wer moves away.
Father thows a body shot but no joy.
Flo Wer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Father changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Father tries to bum rush Wer with a series of wild strikes but Wer uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Father tries for a takedown but Wer sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Father has a takedown stuffed.
Wer throws a shot from downtown. Father moves away and avoids it.
Wer throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Wer darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Father looks to throw the jab but Wer is out of range.
Wer scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Father doesn't seem bothered though.
Father blocks a jab.
Father throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A thudding body kick lands there by Wer!
Father lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Wer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Father just misses with a punch to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Flo Wer will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Stephoune Father's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Wer thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Father if he has to take too many more of those.
Wer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Father.
Wer swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Father has a takedown stuffed.
Father shoots in looking for a takedown. Wer tries to sprawl out of it but Father keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Father misses with a right hand
and Wer counters with an outside leg kick.
Wer lands an overhand right.
Wer moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Wer throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Father stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Wer follows into mount!

Father is rocked!

Stephoune Father's cut is getting worse.
Wer wants to control the pace but Father is squirming around nicely.
Oh Father is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wer pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Father taking shots to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wer throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Father really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Father wants to hold on but Wer pushes him away.
Father seems to have got his legs back now.
Wer with good strikes from the mount here!

Stephoune Father's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Wer raining down shots from the mount!

Jeez, Stephoune Father's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Stephoune Father's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Our winner, Flo Wer, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
