The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mora throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mazzuca.
A combination from Mora does no damage.
Mazzuca cracks a nice hook into Mora's ribs.

Mazzuca feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A very excited looking Roman Mazzuca rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
In defeat, Angel Mora stepped up to the mic, saying 'I just wanna say that I'm sorry for that loss. I really thought I could win this fight, but my hat's off to my opponent. He was the better fighter tonight.'.

Redban defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Daddy.
Redban bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Daddy shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Redban as he jumps to the side.
Daddy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Redban tries to avoid it but Daddy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Redban to the ground. Redban escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Daddy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Daddy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Redban but Redban pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Daddy closes the distance and clinches up with Redban, looking for a takedown. Daddy pushes Redban against the cage but Redban circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The crowd roars in approval and The Great slams his opponent to the mat. OH, that is naaaaaasty! He's out! The Great lands a punch to his unconscious victim for good measure before the ref has time to call the fight.

Smith throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent West stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for West. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

West is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
West prevents Smith from improving his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
West wants to get back to his feet.
Smith has a hand on West's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. West takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Frank Smith.
