The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Madman throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Pajaanen closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Madman did well to prevent Pajaanen getting side control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Pajaanen slips a nice elbow through Madman's hands, connecting with Madman's forehead.
Pajaanen is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Black darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Black tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Kruth.
Black could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Kruth tries to get to full guard but Black has control of the leg.
Black missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Black thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Black prevents Kruth from improving his position.

Kruth looking for submissions off his back.
Kruth trying to hold on to Black's head to control him but Black postures up.
Kruth really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Black. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Black has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Black wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Kruth uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Kruth utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Kruth escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Black gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Black stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kruth swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Black stands and steps away. Kruth gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Black shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kruth manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Kruth wants to sweep but no luck.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Black would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kruth holds on and takes a little breather.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kruth can do anything to dispel that myth.

Chong Li has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Justin Mund.

Mund misses with a punch on the inside.
Mund has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Li avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It looks like Justin Mund has been cut.
Li is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Mund is defending well for now.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mund accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mund wants to stand and escape but instead Li has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
