These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Washington throws an elbow that misses. Edward uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Washington's guard. Nice move by Edward!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Leonard Washington hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Edward is not content to let Washington control the position.

Edward regains half guard, as Washington was trying to land strikes.
Washington is just content to waste time from the top position. Edward takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Washington accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Washington cracks Edward with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Edward tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Washington pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Edward is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Leonard Washington decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
