Simunek uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mama.
Mama throws a left and a right that both miss
and Simunek counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Mama off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Simunek follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Mama was out before he hit the floor.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris takes one to the side of the head.
Wheat sizes up Harris with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Harris shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Harris was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Wheat really wants to buck Harris off and get back to his feet.
Harris postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Wheat looks a forlorn figure.

Wheat's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Harris loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Wheat scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Harris land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Harris stands and salutes the crowd.

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ericson Mecos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viktor Mykolaiv (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ericson Mecos had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 157.4lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. This should be a great matchup!

Mykolaiv lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mecos circles away quickly and effectively.
No joy there for Mykolaiv, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mecos throws a looping overhand right but Mykolaiv ducks down to avoid it.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mecos looks up at the clock and then as Mykolaiv takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Mecos smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Grimson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Street - the referee stops the clock and Grimson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Street. Grimson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
