Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon Finch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tito Santana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Finch had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 172.2lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Tito Santana is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

and Finch cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Finch misses with a looping right.
Finch throws a low kick but it's checked well by Santana.
Finch dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Santana should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

and Finch counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Santana on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Santana takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Finch creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Santana sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Finch looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Santana with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Santana is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Finch pulls his head out easily.
Santana is looking for a sweep. Finch is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Santana moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Santana tries to roll over but Finch keeps him under control.
Finch knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Santana on the ground.

Finch shoots in looking for a takedown. Santana tries to sprawl out of it but Finch keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Santana manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jon Finch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Finch throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Santana stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Santana is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Santana uses his free foot to push down on Finch's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Finch.
Finch is trying desperately to improve position.

Santana is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Finch to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Finch shrugs it off.

Santana working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Finch looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Santana! Submission of the night perhaps?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davids misses with a head kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Sharpe crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Davids - the referee stops the clock and Sharpe gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Davids. Sharpe manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

It looks like Sharpe might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
