Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Denzel Kurt!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Illya Tyunina and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monkey throws a right hand that Kurt ducks under and follows up with a left that Kurt also avoids with ease.
Monkey takes a kick to the side of the head.
The fighters circling - Kurt throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Monkey looks to throw the jab but Kurt is out of range.
Monkey shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kurt as he jumps to the side.
Kurt throws a right and a left that Monkey avoids nicely.

Monkey shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Kurt wants to stand and escape but Monkey is having none of it.
Monkey tries to free his leg and advance position but Kurt is retaining full guard.
Monkey wants to control from the top but Kurt keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Monkey is really struggling to control Kurt but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Camel Monkey has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Kurt throws a right and a left that Monkey avoids nicely.
Kurt should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Kurt connects with a body shot.
Kurt thows a body shot but no joy.
Kurt lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Kurt.
Monkey throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Kurt counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Monkey shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kurt manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kurt wants to stand and escape but Monkey is having none of it.
Monkey trying to control the position from guard on top but Kurt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Monkey controls from within his opponent's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We're going to have a standup here because Camel Monkey wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Kurt checks the leg kick.

Kurt throws a series of punches but Monkey avoids them all with ease.
Kurt throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Monkey throws a low kick but it's checked well by Kurt.

Monkey looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Kurt can't keep his opponent in guard - Monkey advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Monkey is trying to control the action in half guard but Kurt is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Monkey wants to pass to mount but Kurt is defending the position.
Monkey wants to take a breather but Kurt is having none of it.
Kurt is in trouble now - Monkey has advanced to mount!
Monkey trying to control but Kurt is having none of it.
Monkey landing strikes, looking to finish!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Camel Monkey dominated that round.
That's time! Monkey's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Monkey throws a lazy uppercut
and Kurt cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Monkey shoots in for a takedown but Kurt shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Monkey avoids a punch combination nicely.
Monkey shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kurt as he avoids it easily.
Monkey throws a lazy right hand but Kurt sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Nice jab there from Kurt.
Monkey ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kurt moves away.
A slow jab from Monkey misses its intended target.
A left and a right from Kurt both land. Nice combination.
Monkey takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Monkey throws a body punch but Kurt moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Monkey misses with a hook
and Kurt counters with a three punch combo that has Monkey backing up. Monkey nods at Kurt to acknowledge the strikes.
Monkey tries to land a front kick but Kurt steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
A combination from Kurt does no damage.
Monkey misses the jab.
Kurt just misses with a punch to the body.

Monkey shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kurt napping and manages to drive through into side control!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Kurt is pushing Monkey's head away, looking to escape. Monkey manages to hold on to the position though.

Kurt takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Monkey controlling the position from side mount.
Monkey has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kurt is looking to get back to his feet here but Monkey is keeping cool and he's managed to take Kurt's back.

Monkey throwing damaging strikes from the back! Kurt could be in trouble here!

Monkey has his arm under Kurt's chin here. Game over son! Monkey squeezes tightly and Kurt is forced to tap out!
