And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dat Sik!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Chris Edwards and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elmo checks a leg kick.
Elmo checks a leg kick nicely.
Sik connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Sik throws a chopping leg kick but Elmo manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Sik lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Sik drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Sik swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Nice defenses there by Elmo.
Elmo misses with an attempted mid kick.
An inside leg kick lands from Sik.
Sik bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Elmo's head backwards.
Sik misses with a left hand
and Elmo counters with a nice uppercut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sik ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Elmo moves away.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Elmo - that will leave a mark!
Sik throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Elmo misses with a lunging right hand
letting Sik counter with a right hand.

Elmo pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Elmo thuds a left hand into Sik's body.
Elmo throws a low kick but it's checked well by Sik.
Sik misses with a hook
and Sik takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Dat Sik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sik slips under a jab.
Elmo staying out of range there.
Sik jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Dat Sik is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A punch lands to the side of Sik 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Elmo missing with a left hand there. Sik was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Elmo takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Elmo tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Sik. Elmo shrugs it off though.
Elmo throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Elmo scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Elmo throws a strike aimed at the side of Sik's head but Sik avoids it well.
Elmo working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Sik gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Elmo working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Sik's thigh. Sik counters though and makes it back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sik is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Elmo is looking to work some ground and pound but Sik has wrist control.

Sik working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Elmo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Elmo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Elmo loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Elmo forces his way into half guard.
Elmo is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Sik tries to lock up and control but Elmo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Elmo with shots to the head and body - Sik looks very uncomfortable down there.
Sik is desperately trying to improve his position but Elmo has a good base and remains in mount.
Elmo avoids the attempt from Sik to control.
Elmo sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Elmo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Sik wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Elmo.
Sik is trying desperately to improve position.

Elmo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sik is looking to escape.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sik is wriggling around trying to escape.
Elmo is landing with some decent strikes but Sik is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Elmo breaks from Sik's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Sik tries to hold on but Elmo postures up.
BOOM! Elmo connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Sik is rocked!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Elmo is landing with some decent strikes but Sik is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Sik is still in real trouble! Can Elmo finish him?
Elmo postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Sik out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Elmo goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!

Zivic swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Zivic lands a slapping body shot.
Hyypia shoots for a double leg takedown but Zivic sprawls well. He's pushed Hyypia's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Zivic flashes Hyypia a smile before throwing a beast of a right hand, straight down the pipe. Hyypia's eyes follow the hand right onto his nose, taking in it's full glory... and then darkness. Hyypia crumples to the floor! He's out cold! Zivic punches the air and yells at the top of his lungs - yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Fritzie Zivic!
In his post fight interview, Fritzie Zivic started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
