The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richmond defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Pirates.
Scotty Richmond seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Richmond looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Pirates shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Richmond pinned against the cage. Richmond gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Richmond changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pirates looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Pirates tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Richmond wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
A bit of a lull in the action here.

Richmond throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Pirates works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Pirates really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Richmond tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Pirates slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Richmond throws a strike but Pirates rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pirates drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pirates jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Pirates postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Richmond is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pirates, into his guard.
Pirates is pulling down on Richmond's head to control his posture.

Pirates has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Richmond doesn't defend quickly enough and Pirates has managed to lock this one up! Can Richmond escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Pirates on a fantastic submission victory.

Ellinger kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Bars On Me by Chris Webby. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Rick Ashton decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
