The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pope bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Couture ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pope moves away.
Pope thows a body shot but no joy.
Pope misses with a kick to the body.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Pope.
Couture misses with a straight right.
Pope throws a nice inside leg kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Couture avoids the head kick by Pope.
Couture sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Couture looks winded!
Pope misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Pope dodges the punch combination from Couture.
Pope dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Couture. That did some damage!

Couture shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Couture takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Pope throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Pope lands a nice hook to Couture's body. Couture takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Pope thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Couture if he has to take too many more of those.

Pope throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Pope throws the kick towards the body but Couture avoids it.
Good leg kick by Pope there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Couture displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pope throws out the jab.

Pope feints and then cracks Couture's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Couture down.

Couture wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pope keeps working.

Pope is looking to control Couture's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pope avoid being mounted?

Couture is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pope defends it well.
Pope wants to control but Couture is keeping busy.
Methuselah Couture has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Couture is trying to control the action in half guard but Pope is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Pope is controlling Couture's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Couture is thwarting Pope's attempts to control the position.
Couture looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Couture drops an elbow to the side of Pope's head.

Pope moves into full guard.
Pope looking to hit a scissor sweep but Couture is one step ahead there.
Pope is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Couture can do to turn this around?
Couture makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Couture trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Pope manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pope is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

I would just about give that final round to Methuselah Couture.
