The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pollak shoots for a double leg takedown but Fuentes sprawls well. He's pushed Pollak's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Pollak steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Fuentes.

Pollak fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fuentes avoids it really well and circles away.

Fuentes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pollak can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fuentes has his foot on Pollak's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pollak works his way back into a safe position though.
Pollak wants to control from the top but Fuentes keeps moving.
Pollak really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fuentes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pollak has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Fuentes is proving hard to escape from.
Pollak throws an elbow that misses. Fuentes uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pollak's guard. Nice move by Fuentes!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
