The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goldman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dudoit sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Goldman somewhat.

and Goldman counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Dudoit's guard now.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brett Heart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brenen Phillips!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phillips changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Heart tries to avoid it but Phillips manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Heart to the ground. Heart escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Heart counters with a shoot takedown. Phillips fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Heart landing some decent shots from guard.
Heart content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Heart with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Heart working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Phillips's head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Phillips working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Heart doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Heart manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Heart's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Phillips is looking for a triangle but Heart pushes his legs off easily.

Phillips is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Phillips keeping moving, preventing Heart from controlling successfully.
Heart is working Phillips over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Heart working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Heart is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Heart wants to control from the top but Phillips keeps moving.
Heart stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Phillips swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Phillips working for a triangle but Heart defends it easily.
Heart postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Heart cracks Phillips with a solid left hand.
Heart wants to control from the top but Phillips keeps moving.
Heart stands up over Phillips, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Heart landing with the ground and pound.
Phillips has momentary wrist control but Heart slips an elbow through the middle.
Heart connects with a couple of short punches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Phillips escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Heart gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Heart's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Heart has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Phillips has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Heart is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Phillips.
Phillips takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Heart cracks Phillips with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Heart is looking to take a break and control but Phillips is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Heart landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Heart scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Phillips to see if he's OK.
Phillips is looking to regain half guard here but Heart keeps moving and retains side control.

Heart lands a nice forearm strike.

Phillips is rocked!
Heart is chipping away with strikes.
Phillips is still in real trouble! Can Heart finish him?
Phillips takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Heart cracks Phillips with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Heart immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Phillips is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Heart!
