I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Aira Panganiban was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones fails with the takedown

and Panganiban counters with a shoot takedown. Jones fights it but they end up in guard.
Panganiban must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Panganiban got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jones has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Panganiban has managed to get both his arms back between Jones's legs - danger averted.

Panganiban is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Panganiban is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Jones couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Nelson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Achilles defends it easily.

Damien Demented seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Garrido fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but McZongo avoids it really well and circles away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Garrido is defended easily by McZongo.
McZongo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
McZongo lands with a good body shot.
Garrido moves forwards but McZongo connects with a nice, crisp jab.
McZongo works over Garrido's head and body with a nice combination.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A nice leg kick lands there from McZongo.
McZongo is pawing at Garrido, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Garrido's nose. Garrido is badly hurt! McZongo pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Garrido tries desperately to hold on but McZongo is relentless in his assault! As Garrido receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls McZongo away and this one is in the books!

Villar lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Gi quite badly. Gi pulls Villar in close trying to recover. Villar postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Gi on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Gi doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
