The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Houk has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Houk is squeezing on Tykeem like an anaconda would it's prey. Tykeem fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex Heslop!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chung walks into a jab.
Good exchange - Heslop coming out on top.
Chung throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Heslop's waist but Heslop gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Chung off to one side.

Heslop fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Chung to the ground. Heslop is now in Chung's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Heslop wants to control from the top but Chung keeps moving.

Chung has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Heslop can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Heslop avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Chung working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Heslop doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Heslop manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Chung is looking for a triangle here but Heslop uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Chung manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Chung in particular looking to stall.
Heslop is trying to maintain the position but Chung is very close to passing his half guard.

Chung takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Heslop looks like he's trying to stand up.

Heslop wants to get back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Heslop feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Chung escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Heslop gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Chung has an active guard here but Heslop has managed to pass into half guard.

Chung is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Heslop pulls his head out easily.

Chung is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Heslop is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Chung regains full guard. Nicely done.
Chung tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Chung is breathing heavily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Heslop accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Chung is looking to sinch up a triangle. Heslop throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Chung's body to avoid the submission. Chung has instead reached around Heslop's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Chung arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Le Chung!
In his post fight interview, Le Chung started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
