Undercard bout

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vasara Hai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Eaton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mark Eaton told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hai tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Eaton swivels and escapes.
Eaton throws a series of strikes that have Hai backpedaling.
Vasara Hai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hai shoots for a takedown but Eaton saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hai.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vasara Hai. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Eaton has closed the distance and engaged Hai in a clinch.

Hai turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Eaton looks to land a combination but Hai avoids it well.
Eaton slaps away a takedown attempt from Hai, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Hai fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Eaton avoids it really well and circles away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

No joy there for Eaton, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Oh Hai is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Eaton is pawing at Hai, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Hai's nose. Hai is badly hurt! Eaton pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Hai tries desperately to hold on but Eaton is relentless in his assault! As Hai receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Eaton away and this one is in the books!

Rapthlaka has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hai shoots in looking for a takedown. Kirkham tries to sprawl out of it but Hai keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kirkham manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kirkham is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Kirkham throws an elbow that misses. Hai uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kirkham's guard. Nice move by Hai!

Kirkham got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hai has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kirkham has managed to get both his arms back between Hai's legs - danger averted.

That was a close round but I would say that Kyle Kirkham will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hai changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kirkham tries to avoid it but Hai manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kirkham to the ground. Kirkham escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
