The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dias shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gil but Gil pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Tanaka comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Yuudachi kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Toni Waltonen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinji Tanaka!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tanaka shoots in looking for a takedown but Waltonen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tanaka's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Tanaka closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Waltonen's guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Tanaka's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tanaka feints and as Waltonen raises his hands in defense, Tanaka changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Waltonen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Tanaka is controlling him.

Tanaka throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shinji Tanaka has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Tanaka tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Waltonen swivels and escapes.
Toni Waltonen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shinji Tanaka.

Tanaka rushes Waltonen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Waltonen is trying to break the clinch but Tanaka is controlling him.
Tanaka is looking to take this one to the mat.
Tanaka is trying to drag Waltonen to the mat but Waltonen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Waltonen is pressed up against the cage. Tanaka has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Waltonen down to the mat. Waltonen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Tanaka just misses with a elbow thrown towards Waltonen's brow.

Tanaka manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Tanaka is working an open guard so Waltonen takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Waltonen lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Tanaka at a distance.
Waltonen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Waltonen wants it to stay on the feet.

Waltonen closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Waltonen throws a combination. Tanaka tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Waltonen defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Tanaka.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Waltonen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Tanaka on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Tanaka wants to clinch up but Waltonen keeps it at a distance.
A head kick misses from Waltonen.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tanaka looks for a takedown but Waltonen sprawls well.
Waltonen lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Tanaka at a distance.
A solid leg kick lands there for Waltonen.
Tanaka gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
letting Waltonen counter with a right hand.
Tanaka shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Waltonen but Waltonen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Waltonen scoring well with a low kick there.
Waltonen throws a half hearted mid kick.
Tanaka moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Waltonen is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Tanaka.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Tanaka has a takedown stuffed.
Waltonen lands a jab to Tanaka's midsection.
Waltonen lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Waltonen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Toni Waltonen will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Tanaka fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Waltonen avoids it really well and circles away.

Tanaka takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Tanaka is trying hard to land a takedown here. Waltonen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Tanaka shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Waltonen but Waltonen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Toni Waltonen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shinji Tanaka.
Waltonen is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Tanaka like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Tanaka from another fist facial!
