He only made it down to 266.6lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. This should be fireworks!

Cowell changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rugowski tries to avoid it but Cowell manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rugowski to the ground. Rugowski escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Staal takes one on the button.
Heggs throws a series of punches but Staal moves out of range.
Staal moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Heggs throws a series of punches but Staal avoids them all with ease.
Staal tries to land a front kick but Heggs steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Staal sizes up Heggs with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Staal.
Staal goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Heggs throws a body kick that misses
and Staal counters with a nice low kick that buckles Heggs's knee momentarily.
Both fighters circling a little - Staal finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Staal lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Heggs looks gassed!

Heggs chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Staal can pounce on him.
Heggs on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Staal moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Heggs's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Staal lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Staal works on Heggs's body with a couple of short punches.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Staal drops Heggs onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Heggs is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!

Heggs is rocked!

It looks like Luther Heggs has been cut.
Staal lands an elbow that stopped Heggs in his tracks for a moment.
Heggs is still on wobbly legs! Can Staal finish him?
Staal throws a big uppercut that drops Heggs! More strikes from Staal and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Heggs lies dazed against the cage as Staal celebrates with his cornermen!
