The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gardner moves away from the strike by Rood.
Gardner throws a jab when Rood was well out of range.
Rood takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Rood fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gardner manages to avoid it.
Gardner has a takedown stuffed.
Rood changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gardner tries to avoid it but Rood manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gardner to the ground. Gardner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Rood missing with a left hand there. Gardner was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
