The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dodson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dodson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst James is controlling him.
James lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Li's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, 2pac - hit em up. John Li had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 266.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Sam Rice told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

James feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Jones sprawling to the canvas! Jones rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can James finish him?!

It looks like Russell Jones has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
James tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Jones manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
James avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
James keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but James avoids it really well and circles away.
Jones looks gassed!
James cracks Jones on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Jones falls backwards against the cage. James follows up with more strikes that drop Jones to his knees. James keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Jones! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pepper James!
