Escuela has chosen Wu-Tang Clan - Protect Ya Neck as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Dave Suraski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Suraski fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Escuela avoids it really well and circles away.

Escuela gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Suraski to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Escuela is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Suraski is aware though and is defending well.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva shoots for a double leg takedown but Schkayle sprawls well. He's pushed Silva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Silva will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Schkayle has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Schkayle and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Silva has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Schkayle finds it's way round the side to connect with Silva's head.

Schkayle takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Silva comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Silva.

Silva is looking to wear down Schkayle with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

That kick from Silva tenderised Schkayle's leg. Schkayle is trying to keep his angry face on.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silva closes the distance and clinches up with Schkayle, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes Schkayle against the cage but Schkayle circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nice straight punches there by Schkayle. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Schkayle.
