The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gracie takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Hicks looks to land a right hand but Gracie moved out of range.
Gracie takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Hicks fails with the takedown

and Gracie counters with a shoot takedown. Hicks fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hicks looking to control but Gracie passes into half guard.
Gracie prevents Hicks from improving his position.
Hicks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gracie is working away from the top position though.

Hicks throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Gracie escapes and throws Hicks's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hicks is not content to let Gracie control the position.

QL Hicks overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gracie closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gracie lands in his opponent's guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wynd takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Wynd stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Miyaguchi.
Wynd takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Miyaguchi lands a big head kick that sends Wynd tumbling to the mat! Miyaguchi takes a step backwards and waves Wynd back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Miyaguchi forces Wynd back against the cage and clinches.
Wynd is still on wobbly legs! Can Miyaguchi finish him?
Miyaguchi lands a body shot.
Miyaguchi gets through Wynd's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Miyaguchi lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Wynd is fighting off a takedown attempt but Miyaguchi is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Wynd to the mat. Wynd regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Wynd can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Miyaguchi controls the pace.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Miyaguchi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Miyaguchi postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Wynd covers up, he's hurt! Miyaguchi keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Miyaguchi and the ref steps in to end the fight! Miyaguchi can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Inigo Montoya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mathew Maynard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Montoya might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Reptile Theme by Skrillex. Maynard has chosen do it as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Boondocks rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Redman moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Redman lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Boondocks backs up against the cage.
Redman cracks Boondocks with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Boondocks tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Redman pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Boondocks is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Starship Pain!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brett Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pain tried to score with a low kick but Rogers checks it.
Pain misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rogers.
Rogers fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rogers buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Pain closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Rogers is trying to improve his position.
Rogers manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Rogers has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pain is working away from the top position though.
Pain working over Rogers with some ground and pound. Rogers looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rogers avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Pain.
Pain is trying to control. Rogers wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pain sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Rogers defending well though.

Pain wants to free his trapped foot but Rogers is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Pain thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rogers's head.
Pain is nestled in close to Rogers, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Pain throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Rogers pushes Pain off looking to stand but Pain dives back in and keeps control.
Pain is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Rogers!

Rogers takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rogers wants to hold on but Pain pushes him away.

Pain can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rogers is looking to escape.
Rogers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Pain lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Pain postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Rogers out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Pain goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!
