The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matwijenko throws a head kick but Shrude moves out of range.
Shrude waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Matwijenko.

Shrude tries to keep at a distance but Matwijenko has taken the fight into the clinch.
Shrude tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Shrude throws a punch but it's blocked by Matwijenko.

It looks like Dwighd Shrude has been cut.

Matwijenko tries a knee to the head but Shrude blocks it.
Shrude wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Matwijenko has him pressed against the ropes.

Matwijenko jumps guard and drags Shrude to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Matwijenko wants to stand but Shrude is controlling the position.
Shrude trying to control the position from guard on top but Matwijenko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Shrude is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Matwijenko is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

We're going to have a standup here because Dwighd Shrude wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shrude is trying to control the position but Matwijenko postures up.

Shrude has his feet on Matwijenko's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Shrude throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Nice uppercut lands for Shrude. That snapped Matwijenko's head back.

Clausen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Clausen lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Yarbourgh falls backwards - clearly groggy! Clausen dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
