The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Basaev swats away the attempt to clinch by Crunch.
Crunch fails with an attempt to clinch.
Crunch tries to close the distance and clinch but Basaev swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Basaev closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Crunch quickly recovers to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Crunch is not content to let Basaev control the position.

Crunch is trying to defend against the choke here but Basaev has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Basaev Tightens the hold and Crunch taps out furiously! Basaev displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Mikki Basaev opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
