Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Dray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keaton Mendonca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dray's entrance music is Champion. A fine choice. Mendonca comes into a darkened arena with his song building. DOWN WITH THE SICKNESS - DISTURBED kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendonca shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dray but Dray pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Dray could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Dray changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mendonca tries to avoid it but Dray manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mendonca to the ground. Mendonca escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Mendonca counters by moving into the clinch.

Mendonca gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mendonca wants to stand and escape but instead Dray has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Dray drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dray jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Dray won't allow Mendonca to get back to his feet.

Dray wants to pass the guard but Mendonca is keeping the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dray is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Keaton Mendonca dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Dray tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mendonca sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dray somewhat.

Man tries to clinch but Harris moves away

and Harris counters by clinching up.
Man is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Man swings wildly with an uppercut but Harris uses good head movement to avoid it.
Man working aggressively here.

Man misses with a short punch on the inside.

Man drops Harris with a big right hand! Man charges in looking to finish - Harris manages to keep Man in his guard and seems to have recovered somewhat.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Man stands and steps away. Harris gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Oh Harris is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

It looks like Perfect might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Burnett might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
