That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rex Garris.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rocket tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mutoh paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Duncan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rios paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Duncan darts in and clinches Rios up against the cage.
Rios tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Rios is fighting off a takedown attempt but Duncan is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Rios to the mat. Rios regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Duncan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Rios keeping moving, preventing Duncan from controlling successfully.

Rios is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Duncan is controlling him.
Duncan is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Duncan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Rios wants to stand and escape but Duncan is having none of it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tom Duncan.
Duncan connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Duncan scores with a crisp jab that stopped Rios in his tracks.

The cut above Alex Rios's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Rios gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Duncan.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Alex Rios's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Afro Samurai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hulk Hogan!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samurai takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Samurai misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hogan.
Samurai misses with an attempted mid kick.
Hogan throws a poor cross that misses
and Samurai counters with a leg kick.
Hogan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Samurai tries to avoid it but Hogan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Samurai to the ground. Samurai escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hulk Hogan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Samurai swats away the attempt to clinch by Hogan.
Hogan tries to close the distance and clinch but Samurai swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Samurai takes one to the side of the head.
Hogan throws a sloppy head kick
and Samurai counters with an inside leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hogan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Samurai's waist but Samurai gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hogan off to one side.

Hogan looks gassed!

Samurai with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Hogan takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Hogan on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Samurai lands a left and a right that send Hogan crashing to the mat, dazed. Samurai thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Hogan is rocked!

It looks like Hulk Hogan has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Samurai misses the jab.
Hogan is still on wobbly legs! Can Samurai finish him?
Hogan blocks a jab.
Hogan displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Samurai throws out the jab.
Hogan staying out of range there.
A telegraphed right hand from Samurai misses the target.
Hogan uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Samurai.
Samurai pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Samurai throws the left hand but Hogan avoids the punch easily.
Hogan ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Samurai throws a looping overhand right but Hogan ducks down to avoid it.
Hogan seems to have recovered his senses.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hogan is defended easily by Samurai.
Afro Samurai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hulk Hogan.
Hogan on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Hogan takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Samurai keeps the fight on the outside.
Hogan takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Hogan gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Samurai cracks Hogan with a left hook right on the temple and Hogan goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! Samurai lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Hogan is OK!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Afro Samurai!
A very excited looking Afro Samurai made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
