The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Waterson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Maelstrom fails to land the takedown.
Maelstrom tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Waterson swinging wildly here.
Nice uppercut lands for Waterson. That snapped Maelstrom's head back.
Maelstrom shoots for a double leg takedown but Waterson sprawls well. He's pushed Maelstrom's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Con Waterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Waterson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Maelstrom throws out the jab.

Waterson steps into range and cracks Maelstrom with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Maelstrom flops backwards and Waterson dives into his guard looking to finish!

Maelstrom is rocked!

It looks like Zane Maelstrom has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Maelstrom is trying to keep Waterson in close.
Oh Maelstrom is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
