The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
English tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bob sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten English somewhat.
English has a takedown stuffed.
English connects with a nice looking jab.
English defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bob.

English scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Bob is pushing English's head away, looking to escape. English manages to hold on to the position though.
Bob tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but English wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Bob uses his free foot to push down on English's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for English.

Bob takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
English is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

English is looking for a sweep. Bob is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Bob is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Bob pushes English away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, English gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Bob is trying to control English's posture but English avoids it.
Bob is pushing English's head away, looking to escape. English manages to hold on to the position though.

Bob pushes English off and gets back to his feet.
Bob misses with a takedown attempt - English sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Old English has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big Bob.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bob leaves English with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connor throws a low kick, looking for Shimazu's leg but Shimazu calmly moves out of range.
A slapping body kick lands there for Connor.
Shimazu throws a head kick that misses.
Connor tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shimazu paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Connor takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Shimazu misses with a kick to the body.
Shimazu on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Connor. Connor obviously looking to wear him down.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Connor clinches.
Shimazu jumps guard but Connor stands there with Shimazu around his waist. Shimazu gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Connor lands a right hand that snaps the head of Shimazu backwards.

Oooooh!!! Connor has knocked Shimazu down with a huge combo! Connor steps away and waves a wobbly Shimazu back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like William Shimazu has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Connor throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shimazu.

Shimazu throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Shimazu throws a half hearted mid kick.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Connor! Shimazu is out on his feet! Connor rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Shimazu is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Shimazu is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Henerson tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Santiago cranks the arm and Henerson screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Henerson, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Oh Cuvler is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lidell lands with a cross.
Cuvler shoots in looking for a takedown but Lidell manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cuvler's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Well Vernius has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
