The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doestevsky throws a right hand that Pogi ducks under and follows up with a left that Pogi also avoids with ease.
Doestevsky misses with a jab, cross combination.
Samuel Doestevsky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Doestevsky misses with an attempted mid kick.
Pogi looks to throw the jab but Doestevsky is out of range.
Doestevsky throws a head kick but Pogi moves out of range.
Doestevsky's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Doestevsky duly obliges.
Pogi checks a leg kick.
Pogi slips a jab and a cross from Doestevsky.

Doestevsky throws a head kick but Pogi moves out of range.

Pogi shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Doestevsky napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Doestevsky is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Pogi asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee asks Pogi politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Pogi prefers to stall for the moment though.
Doestevsky on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Doestevsky really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pogi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Doestevsky wants to get back to his feet but Pogi drags him back down.
Pogi connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Doestevsky some visible discomfort.

Doestevsky seems a little lost for a moment, as Pogi dominates the positioning.

Pogi lands a strong strike to the head of Doestevsky. That's dazed him! Pogi looking to finish here. Doestevsky is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Pogi lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zaferani swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Zaferani takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Highwind bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Zaferani's head backwards.
A slow jab from Zaferani misses its intended target.
Highwind throws a chopping leg kick but Zaferani manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Zaferani digs a good body shot into Highwind's ribs.
The fighters circling - Zaferani throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Zaferani lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Highwind throws a looping overhand right but Zaferani ducks down to avoid it.
A telegraphed right hand from Zaferani misses the target.
Hamid Zaferani seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zaferani lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Highwind is rocked!

It looks like Kain Highwind has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Highwind misses with a head kick.
Highwind is still on wobbly legs! Can Zaferani finish him?
Zaferani throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Highwind sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Zaferani tries a head kick but it misses.

Zaferani throws a hook but Highwind avoids it easily.
Zaferani scores with a kick to the body.
Highwind blocks a head kick by Zaferani.
Zaferani scores with a nice head shot.
A punch combination from Zaferani misses.
Zaferani cracks Highwind with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Highwind tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Zaferani pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Highwind is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hamid Zaferani!
Hamid Zaferani decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
