The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lumens lands a left and a right that send Mellendrez crashing to the mat, dazed. Lumens thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Mark Mellendrez has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lumens throws a right and a left that Mellendrez avoids nicely.

Mellendrez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Lumens struggling a bit here.
Lumens tries to improve position but can't.
Mellendrez lands some shots froms side control.
An elbow from Mellendrez crashes against the mat.
Mellendrez is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Lumens's shoulder. That is not cool.

Mellendrez uses his free foot to push down on Lumens's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Lumens.

A fine choice. Khaled comes into a darkened arena with his song building. DJ Khaled - Out Here Grindin' kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

and Khaled counters with a good, hard body kick but Diaz shrugs it off.
Khaled lands with a kick to the ribs.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Khaled but Khaled pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Scotch gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Halo to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Halo pushes down on Scotch's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Halo tries to pass to full mount but Scotch defends it.

Halo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are battling for position here. Scotch manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Halo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Halo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Scotch is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Atreides lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Atreides in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
Atreides fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Rice.

Atreides feints a jab and as Rice dips his head, Atreides unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Rice right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Rice falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Atreides smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.

Rodrigo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Vonstein looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
