Johnson lands with a thumping leg kick.
Rodriguez tries to bum rush Johnson with a series of wild strikes but Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Johnson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Vengeance lands a big head kick that sends Whyte tumbling to the mat! Vengeance takes a step backwards and waves Whyte back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Whyte gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Vengeance gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Whyte is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mendes throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Vendo was covering up waiting for the punch and Mendes finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Mendes trying to control but Vendo is working from the bottom.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Mendes looking to sit in guard and control but Vendo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Vendo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Mendes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Vendo defends well.

Vendo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mendes looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mendes looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mendes!
Vendo is not content to let Mendes control the position.

Mendes gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Vendo to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Vendo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mendes is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Vendo, into his guard.
Mendes pushes down on Vendo's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mendes enables Vendo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mendes manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Mendes content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Vendo has locked up a guillotine! Vendo's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Mendes is holding on here and Vendo must be using up a lot of energy. Mendes has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Vendo gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ricardo pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Parton taps out and this one is all over!
