Lyoto Emelianenko told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Linus slips a jab from Emelianenko.
Emelianenko tries to close the distance and clinch but Linus swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Linus tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Emelianenko clinches with his opponent.
Linus tries to score a body lock takedown but Emelianenko shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Linus doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Linus wants to break the clinch but can't.

Emelianenko manages to break the clinch.
Emelianenko swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Emelianenko fails with an attempt to clinch.
A telegraphed right hand from Emelianenko misses the target.

Linus shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Emelianenko is trying to defend but Linus finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Linus is just content to waste time from the top position. Emelianenko takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Linus is trying to drag Emelianenko to the mat but Emelianenko just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.
Linus tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Emelianenko's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Emelianenko lands a left and a right that sends Linus crashing to the canvas! Emelianenko dives into mount looking to finish!

It looks like Velimir Linus has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Emelianenko landing strikes from the mount and Linus is in trouble!
Oh Linus is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Linus could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Emelianenko slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Lyoto Emelianenko hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Linus closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Linus stalling away here and it's allowed Emelianenko to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Linus is looking to advance position but Emelianenko has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Emelianenko tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Linus is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Winkler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
